This song has inspired me a lot since the day my mother found it on the internet some years back, right after I received permission to aspire to be a minister. It is written by Karin Härjegård, vicar in Åre, Sweden, for the 50th aniversary of the year when the Church of Sweden first ordinaned women. Kallad – Verbi Divini Minister

Verbi Divini Minister, The Servant of The Divine Word is also you

Your voice is needed for it can speak for the many,
All those words that have never been expressed
You can name all those experiences
That have been flouted throughout history

As a woman you are a sister to all those beaten,
To all those who never again dare raise their voice
As a woman you are a sister to all those raped,
Your purpose is words of solace, words of strength

Verbi Divini Minister, The Servant of The Divine Word is also you

You can place human lives in a larger context
See every person’s indispensable part in history
See our fellowship with Eve, Rebecca and Elizabeth
See that we are Mary again, and again, and again

As a woman you are a sister to all who struggle,
Who battle for the right to raise their voice
As a woman you are a sister to those who never capitulate,
Your purpose is words of solace, words of strength

Verbi Divini Minister, The Servant of The Divine Word is also you

And throughout our lives God carries us devoutly
Through narrow alleys and over lush fields
A God Who shares our every moment,
And finds in every human something very special
Who gazes on every woman and man with love,
Who strengthens everyone to raise their voice

As a woman you shall be here to tell
Of a God Who in Himself is Presence, Love and Solace

Verbi Divini Minister, The Servant of The Divine Word is also you
